Life is a gift

“we stop growing when we think there is nothing more to learn"

Punita is a visual artist, teacher and liberation seeker working with a variety of artistic endeavors. Through her art, she brings attention to love; be it self-love, love for humanity or deep love for our planet mother earth. She embarks to understand what we do to the planet we do to ourselves. Her art seeks to convey the message that to be human is to be both flawed and divine. Spiritual faculties play a significant role in her paintings. Her art represents transformation; to move from shallow, prejudiced and fearful realities to one that is loving, compassionate, abundant and peaceful. Her work captures the dream state of mind and she portrays them in such a way where reality and fiction meets.

Inspiration & Style

Inspiration is Punita’s soul’s reward and it comes from the divine mind which chooses its own colors and symphony. Nature inspires her and the circumstances humanity endures globally on daily basis touches her heart profoundly. Nature’s bewilderment and beauty inspires her to create works of art. God and life itself, in all of its suffering, sacredness and complexity further contributes to her need to express herself more on canvas.

Her motivation come from when she feel closely connected with God that resides in all and in everything; it is like a catalyst to all of us. In her views painting can illustrate the viewers but it cannot inform them exactly of those deepest emotions which an artist goes through. Each one of us has a gift for creativity in our capacity or another.

Rumi says: “Man is a captive on earth, his body and mind are his prison bars, and the soul is unconsciously craving to experience the freedom where originally it belongs."

Style

Punita is a versatile artist she finds that her art gets stagnate with no challenges in it when she uses only one style of artistic techniques. Mixed media, application of oil colors with spatula, pen & ink, diligent placement of silk colors and watercolors are the primary techniques she plays her color symphony with. She uses strong contrasts, vibrant and exquisite colors, detailed textures and bold emotional essences. In her art, fluidity, balance and variety of color play a significant role. Her emphasis is on balance of colors but at the same time not to make it equally balanced. Also marrying and interconnecting her subject and object with shadows is quite evident in her work.
